Blueprint for Black Power: A Moral, Political, and Economic Imperative for the Twenty-First Century by Amos N. Wilson

Nationalists or any group[s] attempting to affect positive change for the throw-aways and downtrodden in Western society and culture should consider this text their Bible.  Baba Wilson is clear and concise in identifying the problems and offering concrete solutions to the issues faced by blacks, other persons of color, and many other marginalized groups.

Through this text he effectively demonstrates these groups continue to battle against a very deliberate and organized power structure, and the solution to tyranny and oppression is the counter organization of the terrorized and oppressed for power over their lives.   Wilson finally concludes that people do and can have power when they organize and pursue concentrated,  deliberate action.

The perfect Fathers Day gift for the father or man in your life:

Pop: A Celebration of Black Fatherhood by Carol Ross

In 51 visually stunning, emotionally compelling portraits, acclaimed photographer Carol Ross presents a hopeful, heartwarming, and caring view of black fatherhood in the United States. In an era that pays little positive attention to black fathers, Ross's inspirational perspective on the relationships between black men and their children is vitally important—and long overdue.

Ross's richly textured duotone photographs reveal a group of devoted fathers whose common bond is their profound love for their children. For her subjects, Ross has selected men from all walks of life—college professors, filmmakers, technicians, construction workers, and corporate executives—along with well-known music executives, directors, entertainers, and actors, such as Antonio L. A. Reid, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Funk Master Flex, Doug E. Doug, and Melvin Van Peebles. Film star Samuel L. Jackson, photographed with his daughter, provides the book's foreword, and each portrait is accompanied by a poignant personal recollection by the father depicted.

Exquisitely designed, Pop: A Celebration of Black Fatherhood finally gives black men their own voice about their experience as fathers. Inspired by her own father, Ross's book is, in her words, "a round of applause, a bow, a 'God bless you,' " to all those fathers who "take their children to that place where, one day, they can fly on their own."  <book link>

On this date [June 5] in 1940, The American Negro Theater (ANT) was organized in Harlem, New York. Coordinators were Frederick O'Neal, Abram Hill, and members of the McClendon Players.

ANT was a pioneering African-American theater company and school in which several hundred Black actors, writers, and technicians began their careers. The Academy Award-winning actors Sidney Poitier and Ruby Dee and actor and singer Harry Belafonte, are three of the prominent African-Americans who were affiliated with the American Negro Theater. The theater was founded in Harlem in 1940 by the Black writer Abram Hill and the Black actor Frederick O'Neal, who wanted to create a company that would provide opportunity for African-American artists and entertainment for African-American audiences unavailable downtown on Broadway.  [Continue reading at the African American Registry.]

A Deeper Love Inside: The Porsche Santiaga Story by Sister Souljah

At last, mega-bestselling author Sister Souljah delivers the stunning sequel to The Coldest Winter Ever. Fierce, raw, and filled with adventure and emotional intensity, A Deeper Love Inside is an unforgettable coming-of-age story in the words of Porsche Santiaga, Winter's younger sister.

Sharp-tongued, quick-witted Porsche worships her sister Winter. Cut from the same cloth as her father, Ricky Santiaga, Porsche is also a natural-born hustler. Passionate and loyal to the extreme, she refuses to accept her new life in group homes, foster care, and juvenile detention after her family is torn apart. Porsche—unique, young, and beautiful—cries as much as she fights and uses whatever she has to reclaim her status. Unselfish, she pushes to get back everything that ever belonged to her wealthy, loving family.

In A Deeper Love Inside, readers will encounter their favorite characters from The Coldest Winter Ever, including Winter and Midnight. Sister Souljah's soulful writing will again move your heart and open your eyes to a shocking reality.  <book link>
